"Light Installations"

In her exhibition "Light Installations" at Cirkulations-Centralen, Joanna Thede shows newly produced works. The choice of material is built upon the artist's fascination for completely different points of view such as that of religion and science, and how these have wanted to illustrate the importance of light to our existence through expressions such as Let there be light and E=mc2 amongst others. Despite those descriptions, it does not become a bit easier to form an understanding for natural daylight, which for example is not to be seen if it is not reflected.

The works in this exhibition are both light and site specific: the artificial light of the show room serves as the starting point with which newly produced installations makes the invisible more visible.

Joanna Thede works with light installations since her education at Glasgow School of Art 2000-2003. In 2006, she took a course in Light Installation at K3, Malmö Högskola. She lives and works in Malmö and has in recent years participated in group exhibitions in Hungary, Scotland and Ireland. In 2007 her first artist book was launched in Glasgow and Gothenburg. In Sweden her works have also been shown in Umeå, Stockholm, Lund and Malmö. She has participated in alternative art fairs such as Alt_cph in Copenhagen and Supermarket in Stockholm together with CirkulationsCentralen, where she is a member since 2003. The exhibition at Cirkulationscentralen is Joanna Thede's first solo show.
